About the GST bill generator
A GST bill is the tax invoice a GST-registered shop issues for a sale. Unlike a plain cash memo, it carries your GSTIN, an HSN code for each item, the GST rate applied and the tax split into CGST and SGST (or IGST for sales to another state). This generator builds that bill for you in a printable format, with the tax worked out line by line.
How to use it
- Enter your shop name, address, phone and GSTIN so they print at the top of the bill.
- Add the bill number and date, and the customer's name and GSTIN if you are billing a business.
- List each item with its HSN code, quantity, rate (excluding GST) and the GST rate that applies.
- Tick the inter-state box if the sale is to a customer in another state, so the tax shows as IGST instead of CGST and SGST.
- Check the tax summary and total, then print the bill or save it as a PDF from your browser's print dialog.
Tips for shop owners
- Enter rates without GST. The tool adds GST on top of the rate you type. If your shelf price already includes GST, divide it by 1 plus the rate first (for example, divide by 1.18 for an 18% item).
- Use the right HSN code. Check the HSN code and GST rate for each product on the GST portal or with your accountant. The tool does not look rates up for you, so the figures are only as correct as what you enter.
- Keep numbering continuous. GST rules expect invoice numbers to run in a unique sequence. Use a consistent prefix and never reuse a number.
Frequently asked questions
- What is the difference between CGST, SGST and IGST?
- For a sale within one state, GST is split equally into CGST (central) and SGST (state). For a sale to another state, the whole amount is charged as IGST.
- Is this GST bill generator free?
- Yes. There is no signup and no watermark on the printed bill.
- Does it store my data?
- The bill is built in your browser, so the details you type are not sent to a server.
- Can I use it for e-invoicing?
- No. This tool produces a printable bill only. Businesses above the e-invoicing turnover threshold must generate invoices through the government's IRP, which needs billing software.
